A secular state with strong Islamic tendencies. There are some restrictions on the extent and nature of missionary activities, but there is religious freedom. Islam 90%; African traditional 9%; Christian 0.38%.

RON & JERRY CHILDS
COUNTRY: NIGER
LOCATION: WEST AFRICA
PEOPLES: 27 different people groups. The principle unreached groups being the Hausa, 3,600,000; the Fulani and the Tuareg.
ECONOMY: The per-person income is $290.00 US dollars a year.
THE CHILDS MINISTRY: In addition to pasturing Abundant Life Church in Maradi Niger, the Childs have planted several churches within the Hausa community. They have also established and conducted a leadership training center to raise up pastors and evangelists.
PERSONAL INFORMATION: Ron and Jerry Childs have spent 30 years in Africa. They have three children and four grandchildren. Vie Abondante (Abundant Life) was established in 1991 by Ron and Gerry Childs who had previously spent many years working as missionaries in Nigeria. It is now directed by their son Neal, and his wife Danette, who have been ministering in Niger since 1998. They work alongside six other international missionaries, their families and 50 Nigerian national missionaries. They take the Gospel to the people of Niger and show them God’s love.
AREAS FOR PRAYER:
- Pray for the African pastors and leaders in the indigenous churches.
- Pray for the open hearts and doors for the gospel to go forth.
- Pray for the spirits of Islam and witchcraft to be broken.
- Pray for Ron & Jerry’s protection.
- Pray for the supernatural supply of all finances.
- Pray for the protection of Ron & Jerry’s children.
